One of the cheapest and the simplest way to improve the lives of the poor is through goat raising. It is not the easiest, by any means, but it is simple and cheap. In that same vein, an even cheaper way to prosper a community is through a program I am calling PASSING THE BUCK.
Take a healthy hybrid buck and put it in the hands of a competent partner in a village and let that partner encourage his or her neighbors to bring their does for breeding. Every year, rotate or pass your bucks to prevent inbreeding. In five year, partners who manage their resources responsibly will prosper and expand.
Responsible and successful goat raisers are then given bigger bucks to breed their growing herd, perhaps even hybrid does and eventually pure breed Boer, Nubian, Saanen and other breeds.
