Chicken play a very important role in the cycle of things in our livelihood program. Chicken eat bugs and clean up goat houses. They eat the left overs or wasted food that goats don't eat. They also like to eat centipedes that can harm, if not kill the goats. Therefore, they are efficient clean up crew and guard to have around. They are also free-ranged, but do not go very far from the goat house. They can eat grass or the seeds that come with them. Chicken also eat earth worms, which we raise under goat houses. We raise Kaver chicken that can grow bigger than 12 lbs. So in our system, raisers can have eggs and at times can have good healthy meat. They let the native chicken roost the Kaver eggs as the big chicken just lay eggs everywhere almost every day.
